About Our Coaching Staff
Middlepath FC takes great pride in the coaches that work for us, As with any club they are the cornerstone of who and what we are. For the 2012/2013 season Middlepath FC will have 9 College coaches on staff. Our coaches are nationally and state licensed by various soccer governing bodies. We also have current and former ODP coaches on staff. Several of our coaches have played at the highest levels in the Professional ranks. At Middlepath FC we are dedicated to ensuring that our coaches provide the optimal environment and instruction to promote the development of all the players in our programs.
Developing technically and tactically sound soccer players is the primary objective for our coaches. What cannot be understated is that coaches are also role models and leaders. The days when coaching responsibilities consist of two training sessions and coaching a game are long gone. Today, coaches must understand nutrition, fitness, strength building and conditioning techniques. Coaches must also have working knowledge of how to teach players to take care of their bodies. Understanding the psyche of youth players and managing those players is also a key component in coaching. Today's coaches must be able to motivate and build self-esteem in their players. Our coaches continually strive to develop players on and off the pitch.
At Middlepath FC we understand we need quality, well-rounded men and women to lead our youth to success both on and off the field. Coaches are now teachers, motivators, psychologist, mentors and professionals versed in what it takes to be recruited. At U-16, U-17 and U-18 our coaches have the expertise in guiding these players through the College recruiting process.
It is a great privilege to coach in Middlepath FC; we aspire to be the best soccer organization in the northeast. With that privilege there is great responsibility. We are proud to announce the hard working coaches we have who embrace this privilege and thrive with this responsibility.
Head Coach Middlepath FC Liverpool U-18 Boys
Andy Jennings returns for his 6th season with Middlepath FC to coach the U-16 Liverpool boy’s team. Jennings has the most wins in Vassar history as men's soccer coach. He was named the 2009 Liberty League Coach of the Year after leading Vassar to a 9-6-1 overall record, the most wins for the program since 2003, As head coach of the Brewers from 1981 to 1986 and again from 1989 to 1996, Jennings compiled a 123-79-27 record and transformed Vassar into one of the Northeast region's premier teams, capturing two Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference regional championships, appearing in seven ECAC playoff championships, and winning three Suburban Conference titles. Jennings, who had served as Vassar's first fulltime Director of Athletics in 1996, returned to fulltime coaching in the 2004 season. Over the last three seasons, he has transformed Vassar into a formidable team against non-league opponents and particularly inside the highly-competitive Liberty League, widely considered one of the finest in the country. In the 2009 season, Jennings turned a 0-2 Liberty League start into the program’s best league record since 2003. The Brewers were in the position to earn a playoff bid in the final game of the season, unfortunately coming up short against No. 1 seed Rensselear. In the 2006, 2007 and 2008 seasons, the Brewers were in the thick of earning one of four Liberty League playoff spots until the final weekend of the season. After stepping down as head soccer coach in 1996 to fully focus on his role as Vassar's Director of Athletics, the program continued to evolve with a NCAA tournament berth in 1999. Jennings, a qualified Football Association coach, has directed numerous soccer camps, has worked with both the United States Soccer Federation and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, and continues to be involved in youth soccer in the mid-Hudson valley. During his playing days, he played semi-professionally in England and also represented England Universities. In 2001-02, Jennings, while on sabbatical, gained invaluable experience with the England Under-17 national team and the Bristol City Football Club Academy program. From 1990 to 2004 Jennings also served as Vassar's Director of Athletics.. Jennings graduated from Exeter University in England with a Bachelor of Education, received his Masters degree from the College of William and Mary in Virginia and gained his PhD in Sport Psychology from the University of Maryland. Jennings also serves as the Vassar Women's golf coach.

Lyn has been a member of the Region I Olympic Development Staff for four years alongside U-16 U.S. National Team head coach Erica Walsh. She also recently trained and coached a nationally-ranked U-16 girl’s team from New Jersey, the Montclair Aristocats. “Kate is one of the nation’s most progressive and ambitious young coaches,” says McCarthy. “She models the core values of our program in her bold and creative coaching style.” A 2005 Columbia College graduate with a B.A. in sociology, Lyn also received her teaching certificate in elementary education from the Barnard Education Program.
