Nate Gibboney - Assistant Coach

Nate Gibboney joined Vassar College as the assistant men's soccer coach in 2007. Now in his third season at Vassar, he hopes to improve the team on its 8-8 finish from a year ago. Gibboney had previously been the assistant coach at Westminster College, in New Wilmington, PA. The Huntingdon, PA native recently finished a two year stint at Westminster College, where he earned his Masters Degree in Education.

 

At Westminster, Gibboney helped coach the Titans to a fourth place Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) showing in 2005, while leading the 2006 squad to a PAC Tournament championship and eventual ECAC Tournament appearance.

 

Gibboney brings a wealth of coaching experience from working various well known and respected soccer camps. In addition to serving as the Assistant Director of Westminster Soccer Camps, Gibboney has worked at the West Point Soccer Camp and the Bison soccer camp at Bucknell, coaching some of the finest up-and-coming soccer talent in the Northeast. He has also attained his NSCAA Regional, Advanced Regional, and National coaching licenses.

 

As a four year starter for his alma mater, Susquehanna University, Gibboney served as captain for both his junior and senior seasons. In 2004, he was recognized as the team Defensive Player of the Year and was named All Middle Atlantic Conference.

 

Gibboney received his B.S. in Business Administration from Susquehanna University and his M. Ed. In education from Westminster College. 

  


Andy Jennings, Coach

Andy is head coach of the Vassar College men's soccer team. Jennings has compiled a 123-79-27 record and transformed Vassar into one of the Northeast region's premier teams, capturing two Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference regional championships, appearing in seven ECAC playoff championships, and winning three Suburban Conference titles. Jennings, a qualified Football Association coach, has directed numerous soccer camps, has worked with both the United States Soccer Federation and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, and continues to be involved in youth soccer in the mid-Hudson valley. During his playing days, he played semi-professionally in England and also represented England Universities. In 2001-02, Jennings, while on sabbatical, gained invaluable experience with the England Under-17 national team and the Bristol City Football Club Academy program.

 


 

Cheryl Price, Assistant Coach

 

Coach Price is entering her 4th year with Middlepath.  She is a blossoming young coach with a lot of experience behind her. Coach Price holds a USSF D License, NSCAA Advanced Regional Diploma, her NSCAA National Diploma and an NSCAA Advanced Goalkeeping I Diploma. Before coming to MFC, Price was the Head Coach of the very successful East Hudson Academy GU11/12 for two years. She had served as the Ketcham Varsity Girls Soccer Assistant Coach for two years as well as Our Lady Of Lourdes HS Varsity Assistant Coach.  In addition to coaching Coach Price is also a certified referee, holding her State 5 USSF referee badge and is currently pursuing her National Referee badge. 
 
Coach Price has years of playing experience behind her as well.  She grew up playing club soccer locally for the Yorktown Jaguars achieving a State and Regional Championship, after club soccer she went on to play collegiate soccer at Northeastern University, where she was a 3 year starter.  After college she joined the NY Magic W-League team for 2 years.   
 
Coach Price holds a Masters Degree in Psychology and her NY State Certification in Social Work.

 

Kristen Turner, Assistant Coach

Turner, a native to Wappingers Falls , has recently come to the Middlepath FC as a coach. She graduated from Siena College in 2007 and had an accredited playing career as a forward. Turner, the 2006 MAAC Offensive Player of the Year, tallied an impressive 35 goals over her four seasons with the program. This milestone proves to be the most goals scored by an individual in Siena soccer history. Kristen, a four year starter, helped lead the Saints into the MAAC Championship game for just the second time in program history. For her efforts, Turner was named to the 2006 All-Northeast Region Third Team.

Kristen was a former Yorktown Jaguar player. She competed with the Jaguars for 3 years helping to earn them a regional title. During her time with the Jaguars they were able to win many competitive tournaments. They were also State Cup Finalist. She is a graduate of John Jay High School where she played soccer for the high school for 5 years. She helped lead the team to many section championships earning many accolades along the way. She was named Poughkeepsie Journal Player of the Year in 2002.


Rupert de los Reyes, Coach

 

Rupert de los Reyes enters his fourth season as assistant coach with the Manhattan women's soccer program.

Prior to Manhattan, de los Reyes served as head girls' soccer coach at Newtown High School. During his tenure, Newtown tallied a 91-23-5 record and guided the program to a Class "LL" State Championship in 2004. In 2006, de los Reyes led Newtown to an undefeated season (12-0-1) and a Colonial Division Championship. For his efforts, de los Reyes was named the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association Coach of the Year (2004), South West Conference (SWC) Coach of the Year (2004 & 2006) and All-Area Coach of the Year (2004). Additionally, de los Reyes earned SWC Coach of the Year honors in 1997 and 1999 following successful seasons with the Bethel High School boys' soccer team. In total, de los Reyes compiled a 133-46-11 career record coaching in the high school circuit.
In addition to his role at Manhattan, de los Reyes coaches the Connecticut United FC women's Under-23 Connecticut Power Club team. Since 2004, the team has represented Connecticut at the regional championships in Philadelphia, reaching the semi-finals twice. Prior to joining CUFC, de los Reyes coached the Yankee United Pride to three straight Open Cup Championships and in 2003 the Pride reached the regional final in Rhode Island with a #8 national ranking.

In 2006 de los Reyes coached the South Central Rush Under-18 squad to a state Open Cup Championship. The Rush also achieved a #8 national ranking and was a regional finalist in Virginia. In a six year span, de los Reyes coached seven state championship teams and helped develop numerous Division I student-athletes.

de los Reyes played his collegiate soccer at Eastern Connecticut State University where he was an All-New England selection and was an Outstanding College Athletes of America Award recipient. He was drafted following his junior year by the Connecticut Yankees of the American Soccer League (ASL). In 1978 de los Reyes played for ASL Champion New York Apollo where he was awarded Most Valuable Player honors in the title contest after posting the game winning goal against the Los Angeles Skyhawks.  


From 1980-1986, de los Reyes played for Bridgeport Vasco Da Gama. The team won the Cosmopolitan Soccer League Championship in 1982-83.  de los Reyes was selected four times as the team MVP in that span. 

 


 Matt Viggiano, Coach

Matt Viggiano is the head men's coach at Marist College. Matt
played for the Marist Red Foxes from 1996-1998 and was a two-year starter and team captain. While at Marist he began his coaching career serving under former Coach Bobby Herodes and helped to form the nucleus of the first Marist team to qualify for the NCAA tournament.

He then served as the assistant coach and head junior varsity coach at Elmira College from 1999-2000 before taking the reigns as Head Coach at Marywood University from 2000-2002.

Viggiano returned to Marist following the fall 2002 campaign and served as an assistant until the summer of 2005. During his time the men's squad went to two conference final fours and once again qualified for the NCAA tournament.

He left again to skipper a transitional period into the NCAA for SUNY Purchase for a season, and then spent the fall 2006 campaign at MAAC rival Iona helping guide them to their best finish in nearly a decade. The Mamaroneck N.Y. native holds National and Advanced National diplomas from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and has coached extensively at the club level in addition to his experience with the Olympic Development program.

Viggiano began his collegiate playing career at the University at Albany where as a freshman starter he spearheaded the Great Danes to a national ranking and a berth in the NCAA tournament. His playing experience includes stints in the Semi-Professional Cosmopolitan League as well as being an eight time member of the Hudson Valley's men's soccer team at the Empire State Games, where his squads have taken home two gold medals along with two silvers and two bronze.



Chuck Wilder, Coach

Coach Wilder is well known in the Hudson Valley soccer circles as his playing and coaching experiences are extensive. As a player, Wilder played Professionally as a goalkeeper in the U.S.I.S.L with the Tucson Amigos, Albany Alleycats, and also in the "A"-League with The New York Fever.

His coaching resume includes Dutchess Community College, Suny Purchase College (division 3), Dominican College (division 2), and Bard College (division 3). As well as serving as Head coach at Purchase, Wilder has specialized as the Colleges goalkeeping coach. Coach Wilder is also the ODP Goalkeeping coach for the girls as well as the Head Goalkeeping trainer for the boys and girls at MiddlePath. Wilder also has coached the Hudson Valley Empire State Scholastic boys soccer team over the past eight seasons as well as coaching numerous youth teams, Middle School, and High School soccer in his career which spans 22 years, Wilder brings a strong technical background in instruction and knowledge to our club.  


 

 
 
Richard Moller, Coach
Richard Moller is entering his fifth season as the Head Coach of the Vassar Brewers in the fall of 2010. Since 2006 he has guided the team to three consecutive winning seasons, a feat that has only been accomplished one other time since the inception of the program in 1978. Coach Moller is the only coach in program history who has coached more than one year and had a regular season record of at least .500 in each year.

In 2008 and 2009, the Brewers had their most successful back-to-back Liberty League seasons, with a 6-7-1 overall league record. This included a .500 season in 2008 in which the Brewers’ recorded the program’s top finish, tying for fourth place with a young roster and a starting lineup composed mainly of underclassmen.

In the past four years the Brewers have celebrated many accomplishments both on and off the field. In 2006 and 2008 two members were named Liberty League First-Team players, including the program’s first underclassman to earn such an honor. Ten Vassar players have earned Liberty League honors under Coach Moller’s tutelage, the most for any one coach in program history. With his emphasis on the balance of academics and athletics, Coach Moller’s players have earned 38 Liberty League All-Academic awards over the last four years.

Coach Moller also works with the German Girls U17 and U16 National Teams and has been learning under Ralf Peter, the Head Coach for the German Girls U17 & U16 National Teams and one of only three instructors in Germany for the A-license program.

Prior to Vassar, Moller, was the first assistant women's soccer coach at Dartmouth College. While at Dartmouth, the Big Green achieved a NSCAA Top 25 National Ranking, came in second in the Ivy League and received an NCAA at-large bid.

Moller had his first head coaching stint at Western Illinois. He coached the Westerwinds in the 2003 and 2004 seasons. In his first season with the Westerwinds, he guided the women's soccer team to its first Mid-Continent Conference tournament appearance since 2000. Western finished fourth in the Mid-Continent Conference after being picked to finish seventh in the preseason coach's poll. Both of Coach Moller’s recruiting classes were ranked first in the conference and his top recruit, then a Dutch U20 National Team goalkeeper, was named a Top 10 Division I recruit in the country.

Before joining Western Illinois, Moller was as an assistant coach for two years at Smith College while completing a teaching fellowship in Applied Exercise Science and earning his master's degree in Exercise and Sports Studies in 2003.

Prior to Smith College, Moller was an assistant coach at Villa Julie College in Maryland from 1999-2001, where he helped the team reach the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Division III national championship.

As a player, Moller had an exceptional career at Towson University, becoming the first Towson soccer player to earn NSCAA Division I All-America and Scholar-Athlete All-America honors. He captained the Tigers three consecutive years, was the America East Player of the Year in 1998 and was named one of the top three Division I goal scorers in the nation by Soccer America. He earned his bachelor's degree in modern languages in 1999 and was an academic honor roll and dean's list student.

Moller continued playing into the professional ranks and was the No. 1 draft pick of both the Maryland Mania, an A-League team associated with the D.C. United, and the Baltimore Blast of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL).

Moller, who grew up in Germany, was a member of the State, Regional and German youth national team. While playing for I.F.C. Kaiserslautern, his team won the German youth championship. He holds UEFA B and UEFA C coaching licenses, both obtained in Germany.
